Pros and cons of Magellan Jr app for iPhone and iPad

Magellan Jr app good for

...good. well designed. good sound. a lot of nice features. update: now 6 stars - spawn automatic preset creation is just awesome.
Great synth. Amazing layout, great sound, randomizer for creating new random synths. The only bone I hate to pick is that unfortunately a lot of the synths sound really similar. I feel like theres a lot more limitation in terms of sounds that can be achieved on this. Have not been able to recreate synth sounds Ive easily made in nanostudio or sunrizer. All the synths sound very aggressive and saw based (even on other waveforms). Same goes for pre-made presets. If yonac added a little more sonic variety this would probably be the best ios synth for iPhone. Also lfo amounts are rediculous for pitch modulation. Setting the amount of osc pitch at anything above 1-3% they sound rediculous. Please fix and add more variety. Sync mods or maybe other waveforms beside the basic four would be nice. Theres just nowhere near the amount of sonic variety that sunrizer has (but they discontinued it)
I love this synth. Its not sample based, mind you, but a great realization of an analog synth on iOS. The only thing is they need to charge a lot more for this. Yonac is ripping itself off by charging this insane, bargain-busting price. Raise the price to $400 please!!!
Just simply a very well thought out synth package. A pleasure to use and to listen to.

This thing sounds great! Very powerful synth! The only option Id like to see is a quantize on the tape deck recorder. Awesome job!

Some bad moments

Magellan is the best full-featured synthesizer on the iPad. Now, it is the best full-featured synthesizer on the iPhone. And after a few minutes of playing with this app, it is definitely a very well-done port to the iPhones 5s 4 inch screen. I am very impressed and look forward to creating music in a more mobile environment with this instrument!
This app has a lot of really awesome sounds and tweaking. By far its the best Ive used for creating music, my issue is sound bank 5-10 isnt working on my iPod touch... Idk if it needs an update or is anyone else having this problem? Please fix if possible, I would like to use this app to its full potential.
I got to say that Yonac really puts out some very good Synth, and Magellan Jr. is another wonderful app that to me surpasses most synth apps I have now. Right off the bat this baby puts out some great sounds and the UI is very good for the lil brother version. Copy/paste as well as other features you would expect from a music app are present and works very well. Excellent app and is well worth the intro purchase ($1.99). For Synthstation 25 owners, The Midi Bridge app is the go to for playing core midi apps like Magellan Jr. Put it to the test with Magellan after my purchase and it works great! Ive been using Midi Bridge by Audeionic for over a year and has not let me down when I want to access my core midi apps.
Exceptional update. Audiobus support, new fx. And a lot more. There are some really good synths in the app store. Magellan is right up there with the best of the best. Outstanding synth, great company/developers! The presets are very nice sounding, very easy to use. Only thing I would like would be an offline user manual.
Ive purchased and mucked with just about every iOS synth available. There are so many incredible instruments to choose from, but each has a fatal flaw of one sort or another with respect to workflow, and this creates tension in the creative process that is not always pleasant. I now require simplicity - fewer apps in the production chain, higher quality sounds, playability, good sequencing, copy/paste, etc. Magellan delivers. Its the only dedicated synth remaining on my device, and that says a lot given the phenomenal competition. Now, please provide an optional graphical interface without faux wood. :)
Magellan has become one of my favorite synths for iPad. Its got a rich sound, with lots of power and flexibility. Once I saw -- or rather, heard -- what it could do on the iPad, I of course wanted it for my iPod Touch, which goes places that my iPad never does (the office, the car, various pockets). With this app, that dream is realized. The only major feature that got left behind in the translation from big screen to small is synth layering -- the iPad version can do two timbres, with separate effects -- but everything else is here, including the sound, in a well-designed package. Im particulary impressed by how usable the keyboard and touchpad are. The larger screens on the new 5G models are a help, but actually playing notes on these little devices is always going to be tricky. Yonac seems to have thought of everything. Theres a lot to explore here, but have a look, in particular, at the touchpad and the chord matrix. Together, these two features will help you to maximize the expressiveness of the small-screen interface. I have noticed one bug: the arpeggiator works on my iPod Touch 5G, but not the 4G.
